The idea for the original KEEN sandal started with a simple question: “Can a sandal protect your toes?” In 2003, we answered by creating the Newport collection and launching a totally new category of footwear. Today, nearly 20 years later, the iconic KEEN Newport sandal still stands as the OG KEEN shoe and remains our best-selling, do-it-all sandal.
Newport sandals were born out of a need for toe protection, but comfort and function were high priorities too. ‘Cause what fun is a sandal that’s not comfy and versatile, right? The Garcia collaboration features original artwork from the one-and-only Jerry Garcia from the Grateful Dead, with 1% of its proceeds being donated to The Wilderness Society to protect the Tongass National Forest in Alaska. The Outdoor Afro collaboration features a limited-edition design and helps fund Outdoor Afro "swimmerships" for Black kids' YMCA swim lessons.
